In conversation, a person tells me that the gods they worship now are different from what they saw at shrines when they were a child. I ask them to draw what they remember.
Sudras, the “nothing people” of this part of the world, don’t remember so well.
Oppressed caste people, who often themselves practice caste, are called “Sudra”. The term means “knowledge-less menials” and “the nothing people”. From history to present, caste hegemony has been erasing, stealing, and appropriating oppressed caste cultures to mobilize the oppressed as inferior subjects in Hindu-religious totalitarianism.
